Our Environmental Commitment
Major Marine Tours is committed to protecting our environment and preserving our world for future generations. From recycling programs to employee volunteerism to carbon offsets, Major Marine Tours has chosen to be an active leader in protecting Alaska’s waters.
Major Marine Tours is one of the first marine tour operators in Alaska to join Denali Green Tag's Tour Green program, the first carbon offsetting program offered for Alaskan tourism. Tour Green allows guests to counteract pollution emitted from their tourism activities by directly contributing to the production of pollution free renewable energy.
While Tour Green mitigates damages to our world, Major Marine Tours is taking steps to protect our environment locally as well. Major Marine Tours employees volunteer on beach and city clean ups as well as working in conjunction with the Park Service to aid in rural and remote clean up and invasive species removal.
In addition, Major Marine Tours has purchased the full Denali Green Tags to offset the carbon emmissions created by each of our office locations in Seward, Whittier and Portage, as well as our living quarters in Seward and Whittier for the past year of operation. We have also created an employee environmental fund. This fund is used for local conservation efforts. Any employee who contributes has a voice and can participate in the distribution of funds to organizations or programs.
