Whittier Alaska Weather
Weather in Whittier and the Prince William Sound area is based off of a number of elemental factors; the warm Japanese current coming up from the seas of the south Pacific, the cool breath from the surrounding glacier and ice fields, and the presence of the temperate rain forest known in this area as the Chugach National Forest. Put all of these natural features together and you get a frequent amount of changing weather and an abundant amount of moisture. The average temperature in the Prince William Sound region ranges from 51-63 degrees Fahrenheit through the early months of April on into September, during the summer months Whittier is generally a place that has a regular amount of rain and/or fog. But do not fear, the low lying clouds usually dissipate or rise by the early afternoon exposing the lush emerald green landscape.
